BE QUIET – 2020

The song is the stuff that platinum records are made of. Dootson says he wrote it about a couple’s acrimonious breakup, and he sings from both party’s perspectives. Still, “Be Quiet” isn’t a down-tempo drag. The drums and bass propel the song at a brisk, uplifting clip, while violin, keys and acoustic guitar meld into a rapturous indie anthem.

BIOGRAPHY

Learning Names are a six piece indie rock band based out of Dallas, Texas. Formed when singer / guitarist Dook Dootson, uprooted from Manchester, UK, had a chance encounter with bassist Hank Berk (Montgomery, AL) back in 2019.

After much painstaking work finding the correct lineup, a worldwide pandemic and collapse of the entire music scene, the personnel were eventually cemented.

Featuring a wide array of instruments – Local Texan Zac Gilbertson (San Antonio, TX) on the tuba and Riley Corder (Austin, TX) on the trumpet as well as Isaac Gong (St Louis, MO) on the trombone, Learning Names are back after a COVID imposed year long break.

Now with dozens of shows under their belt, their new EP ‘A Future, Now Present” is to be released early 2022 along with music videos, live sessions and multimedia projects all building upon the previous release of ‘Be Quiet,’ Learning Names are back and more hungry than ever.
